I'm trying to input my 700+ Magic cards into the Vault. I've run
into a few problems.
#1. I can't tell the difference between Alpha/Beta/Unlimited.
Drives me nuts, because I have no idea where to place the number. Can
anyone help with that?
#2. Some cards have more than 1 version by the same artist. How do
I tell which card is version 1, and which is version 2, etc. AND keep it
straight for the next time I need to add a card to that list? Any
suggestions?

Thanks, Spock

IIRC, the corners are cut differently. There are also issues with colors and
some printing. But I have not touched magic cards in many years, so YMMV.

Hmmm... That would be up to the data file author to add more descriptive
identifiers for art work, I think.

Sorry - Internet "shorthand" terms...

IIRC = "if I recall correctly"
YMMV = "your mileage may vary" - basically a disclaimer that you may not get
the same results.

Alpha cards have a more gently rounded corner. Beta cards are more pointed.
If you hold an Alpha and a Beta card back-to-back, you'll easily see the
difference. This is the reason why Alpha cards can't be mixed with
non-Alpha cards in a tournament unless you have opaque sleeves.

Beta cards have a black border, while Unlimited cards are the first Magic
cards to have a white border.

The above criteria ought to enable you to distinguish between Alpha, Beta,
and Unlimited cards with relative ease.

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell which artwork version of a card is
which until that information is added to the data files. In the case of the
Magic files, I know the author used the data from the Wizards website as
the source data. All the source indicates is "version 1" or sometimes "3
versions". CV has provisions built into it to allow a brief description of
the artwork to be added for each piece of artwork, but that will require
that the author of the files go back and annotate the files with which
version is which. In the meantime, there is no good solution except for
coming up with your own convention.

Sorry about that....
Rob
