Is there a way to make it so a template can't reduce an ability score below 1?

Is there a way to make it so a template can't reduce an ability score below 1?

1) Modify the templates
2) Enumerate the list of templates you know can reduce, check if they exist, add something to offset
3) Script a "if below 0, then add however much below you are back"

Off hand those three are the only way I know.

Hero.child[aSTR].field[aNormMin].value = 1
