Spell List output?

Hi -

Maybe I am missing how to do this, but for wizards' spell books, sorcerer lists, and even customizable lists for other classes, would it be possible to list full spell descriptions in HL and on character sheets? It is nice to have descriptions right on the page rather than having to look them up.

...or is including this much info a legal violation of some sort?

It's an option. just choose the full description dossiers for spells. I did that for my oracle last night.

Hey Shadow,

How hard would it be to remove the memorized section from one of your sheets? I love the no-text version but with spontaneous casting all we typically need is the list in the "book". Would it be hard to create one like that or do you know where one might be available?

Thanks

I thought when used for Memorized only caster like a Sorcerer then all that is displayed is the Full List of Known Spells. I may not change the Heading but that is all that should get displayed.

In other words in my testing it did work correctly for both Book and Spontaneous casters. XSLT is pretty good and I can do some adjustments based on the different casters. It should also work pretty well if you have two caster classes like a Cleric/Wizard.

If not let me know your thoughts on what you think could make it better and I maybe able to implement it. No guarantees but its fun trying stuff out.

By adding spells to the book but not memorizing them, you get a pretty good spell sheet save for two problems:

1) The memorized heading indeed stays on top of the page. That may not be something "fixable"

2) The grey lines that surround the text of the book as the border - on the right side they tend to run down through the last column of text. On my book, the border runs vertically through the "School" column.

Either way your custom sheets are awesome. I think they are much better than the Paizo stuff or any other sheets I've seen up to this point.

This "Should" not be too bad to fix actually.

Hmmm that is not good. :( Not sure why it is doing that so no idea how hard that will be to fix.

Awesome glad you like them. Still learning this XSLT stuff and it has been pretty fun. Just happy people are getting some use out of them. :)

You using Firefox or Exploder to view the HTML? Seems like normal standard HTML is very hard for Explorer to display. Firefox seems to work the best.

Yea that picture is nice I see what your talking about. I just don't see it when I view it in Firefox.

Well that is interesting then. Umm could you send me the .por file for what you used to make the spell sheet you posted above. I currently can't reproduce the issue at all.

You can email shadowchemosh_at_yahoo_dot_com.

Thanks

I've recreated this several times with different .por's each time. I opened a new session, added five levels of wizard, randomly clicked the spells for the book, and then exported.

I didn't fill in any other info or tabs. I had this same issue with my magus and my wife's druid, and a couple other spur of the moment tries. It is pretty consistent for me each and every time for some reason.

Not sure what changed at this point, but I emptied and reloaded the spell list for a couple existing characters and then it worked fine. Wierd-o.

I know this thread is old, but I have a request if you are still doing updates or development.

Any chance you could have an option to set the output to landscape?

Thanks!

If you're asking about spellcasters who have access to all spells on their spell list (like clerics), you'd have to add a copy of each spell on the list to the hero (ignoring errors), and print the spells dossier then. Probably best to maintain this on a seperate blank hero so you don't have to add and delete all those spells to your PC every time he gains a new level of spells.
