SR 4th ed. Specifying Skillsofts

JackFlash

New member
So, whenever I purchase an Activesoft or Linguasoft, I get a Validation error stating that "A skill must be chosen for each skillsoft." When I try a Knowsoft, I get "Knowledge Skill: Skill name must be specified".

I've looked all over the manual, the FAQ, and HeroLab itself, but I haven't found how to specify a skill for it. I know it's got to be something stupid easy, but for the life of me I can't figure it out. Can anyone lend me a hand?

Are you in creation mode or advancement mode?

You've got your skillsoft loaded into a skilljack, right?

If you're in creation mode, click the edit button for that skillsoft (the one that looks like a hammer and wrench), and then click "Select an Active Skill", "Select a Language Skill", or fill in the "(specify skill name)" for a knowledge skill.

If you're in advancement mode, it's too late - skillsofts must be customized when purchased. Delete the problem skillsofts, selling them for full price, and then re-purchase them, making sure to click the "Customize" button - do no use "Add" or "Add and Close" when purchasing gear that needs to be customized.

First: Thanks for the reply!

I'm in Creation Mode, I have not moved the character on to Advancement Mode. There are no 'edit' buttons on the skillsofts (I can provide pictures, if you like.)

However, taking your Advancement advice in hand, using the 'customize' button while I'm buying it? That works just fine. It solves my problem. Thanks.
