Hello all. I was wondering what sort order everyone uses and why. Personally, I sort alphabetically by card name exclusively as I hate, going down and trying to find a card in the group of its card type, which IIRC, is the CV default. In inventory, I'll often filter for a specific set before I enter cards/figs, while still using alphabetical by card name. What about the rest of you? I up to suggestions of something that might be more efficient, just tell me what and why.

I use a numerical card number sort by set when verifying that it looks
like the cards I'm interested are there. Also good for sorting the deck
listing -- especially for pulling cards. I also order alphabetically by set
when looking for particular cards (since I already know what set I'm looking
for) as that puts the cards I'm interested in close together (for browsing
purposes). If I've got the set filtered down enough, I'll use a pure
alphabetical sort to find the cards I want. Finally, if there's some
attribute I'm interested in, I'll sort by that attribute descending (say
Power in Magic).

The default sort order is defined by the data file author. It can be
changed to whatever the author wants. And the user can change it to
whatever he/she wants, after which CV remembers it and uses the new
sequence the next time. So it's only a nuisance the first time (if you
don't like the default sort picked by the author). After that, it's
whatever you last set it to.

So I'm a bit confused with where the problem is. Is there something I'm
missing here? Is there a bug somewhere that we haven't caught yet?

This wasn't a programmer question, but more of a user question. I was wondering what other users prefer and why.

Sorry about that. I'm stuck in programmer mode right now and the other
questions you've raised have been more programmatically focused, so I
didn't shift gears appropriately. :-)
