Some things

Card Vault desperately needs a version tag for cards. Card Vault would use
this tag to keep cards in the inventory list in the deck building part from
merging. Right now for example, merging A Game of Thrones really messes
things up (the database author should have marked different versions in the
card name, but it is probably too late now to fix it). However, without
merging, that you may wind up with inventory shortfalls when you really did
have the cards to assemble the deck if you wanted to avoid using multiple
entries for what is effectively the same card.

I would like some way of marking cards as hot so I can filter for them,
ignoring all the cards I don't normally use, etc. Simply adding a flag in
the inventory management would work. What I would really like to see
though is filtering against a deck. That way I could make deck type
profiles with all the cards I would possibly consider using in a particular
type of deck, Filter against the aggregate of two decks actually, one for
specific deck types, one for generally useful cards.

If a game system has a proxy output filter available for it, I would like
to see a card view option that renders out the proxy as it would be printed.

There should be an option to only print enough proxies to make up inventory
shortfalls.

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean. Could you describe the problem
that is causing the Game of Thrones data files to become 'messed up'?

There isn't a graphical way you can do this, but you could add your own
'extension files' to the data files, adding a tag to the cards you want to
use and the cards you don't.

Alternatively, if it's a specific set of cards that you want to select from
always ("I only want to see Lannister and Targaryen cards, regardless of
what I filter for") you could set that as the default filter, so whenever
you choose 'reset to default' it goes back to your custom default, instead
of no selection.

I don't understand what you mean here, either. Could you elaborate?

I believe this is already on our list of things to do.

I think the idea here is that each set of cards has some cards in it
that are "coasters". Others are simply unfit for the decks one likes
to play. The point was that there isn't really a "rule" on these
cards that can be selected as a filter.

One way to work it would be to do as you said, create a tag for
"good" cards, mark all your choices in the data files, and then
simply filter for it in the program. I guess this request is simply
because he probably can't/won't mess with the data files. But this is
only solvable at that level, because the program has no way to add
tags to a file and this is dependent on the data, not the code.

I think he wants a way to have, say, a tag on the cards that says
"this card works in Dishonor decks, that one works on Beatdown". Then
he could just select "beatdown" and get a list of all possible cards
to include in it.

This can be done by simply adding all the cards you think would be
valid selections for a deck TO the deck. You get an ugly mess of 300
cards, sure, but that's no problem. Just save that deck as "beatdown
template", then when you're constructing load it, remove the cards
you want from it until you get a streamlined deck, and save it under
a new name.

You can actually do this without changing the data files at all. You'd need
to add an Augmentation file to define a new tag group, then an extension
file to add tags from that group to the cards that you want to use. These
two files would be totally independent from the rest of the data files; the
only thing you'd have to worry about would be making sure they didn't get
deleted when you imported a new version of the files.

I guess you could do this in a similar way to the above.

If I understand correctly, this is already on the todo list. Basically, the
idea is to allow the user to assign his own keywords (tags) to cards. Then
the user can filter on those keywords normally via the Filter mechanism.
Doing this is a substantial amount of work, since it will require revamping
the engine to incorporate data the user changes instead of just the
compiled data files from the author. However, it is definitely something we
plan on adding.

This never occurred to us, but it's a great idea! It has now been added to
the todo list.

Some of the cards have the same name but are still different cards. Lord
of the Rings
used subtitles to differentiate between them, but Game of Thrones did not.

For example. the original Westeros Robb Stark says:

Reponse: After you win a [military] challenge in which Robb
participates, choose and kill a character controlled by the losing
player.

The Sea of Storms Robb Stark says the following:

Renown.

Response: after you win a [military] challange by 4 or more total
STR, stand Robb Stark.

Both of these cards are simply called Robb Stark, and if you collapse duplicate
cards, these get collapsed. This is a case where the card was not
reprinted, but
a whole new version made. Which version you play effects what it will do,
unlike
a reprint, where changes often present errata, etc. A lot of the cards
with duplicate
names are in fact reprints. Generally only characters are different, but I
did come
across a second version of one of the locations (can't remember which)

Now if the cards were differentiated by name like:

Robb Stark (Westeros)
Robb Stark (Sea of Storms)

They would be differentiated. However, I suspect in this case, fixing the
card names would mess too many people up, hence my suggestion of
a version tag to prevent these as collapsing.

it shouldn't mess anybody up, since the card name is not used in saved
decks or the inventory data.

The only gotcha is going to be identifying which cards are intentionally
different vs. simply reprinted. If you could cull that information together
for us, we can correct the data files in the next update.

Try 2, I think the first one screwed up.

Actually, up until Fire and Ice, there were no reprints, just different
versions, which consisted of the following:

Cersei Lannister
Knight of Flowers
Robb Stark
Ser Jaime Lannister
Stannis Baratheon
Theon Greyjoy

Fire and Ice does have preprints. There is no Fire and Ice spoiler up on
the Fantasy Flight Games posted yet,
but they did post the following reprint list:
