Skills taking in Armor Check penalty

First off, apologies if this has been run through the ringer, and it's me not clicking some box that fixes this.

2 characters I have created.

1-Wizard level 3 with no armor but a Dex of 16 (+3), yet all of his Dexterity Based skills are +0. Should they not be +3? Wizard has 1 rank in Acrobatics and the Total is +1, not +4.

2-Fighter3/Rogue3 with 16 Dex, +1 Mithril Breastplate, and Armor Training Trait. Same deal. Armor penalty seem wigtacular, both PCs are Society ones.

First post. Be Gentle. ;)
Peace,
Anaconda

The first thing I would suggest is how much weight are you hauling around in gear? You can find that on the abilities tab near the MISC section. being overweight will lower your dex bonus.

Right on! That is the deal.
Encumbrence: One of the many rules that didn't register in my head at that particular time.
Looks like lil' weak wizard needs a mule!
Thanks Thazar! :)

The only problem with that is the "mule" is missing from Hero Lab. It is in the Pathfinder main rulebook. I suspect this is because the mule has not been stat'd by Paizo.

Now that "on the ground" is available I intend to work around this by using customer gear, calling it mule, setting weight to 0, cost to 10gp, and having it be in the "on the ground" location. That should accomplish things until the mule shows up in HL.

It's been my experience that encumbrance tends to not be very strictly enforced because it's a lot of work. Tools like HL though make this very easy, and interesting logistical issues such as encumbrance do become issues. I think this adds some depth to the game as new consideration besides new ways to kill monster x come into play without having added any work!

Shayd3000, the "- Custom Location -" that's available at the top of the gear list has always been intended for things like "My Horse", "My Mule", "Home", "Bank", etc.

(although if you have a horse bought on the other tab, you can use the bag icon that's on the dashboard to move equipment to the horse instead of creating a custom location - this will also be available once there are some stats to give a mule).

But it's the un-converted 3.5 mule - the pre-set skill points won't match the Pathfinder method of calculating skills. Of course you can always create a replacement copy of that Mule race in the editor, with the race adjusted for Pathfinder.
