SR 5th ed. Skill groups/skills, raising some separately...

Several of us have raised a skill GROUP, using group points, and then want to raise some of the skills inside that up higher. We can't find any rule in the SR5e book that forbids it, but Hero Lab doesn't seem to want to let that happen. Thoughts?

The second paragraph under "What The Numbers Mean" SR5p88 says
In addition, skill groups cannot be broken up in this step, so individual skill points cannot raise the ratings of skills purchased as a group. (Note that skill groups can be broken up in Step Seven: Spend Your Left Over Karma (p. 98).
So although it should be possible to raise the individual skills during character creation, it can only be done using karma.

One way to work around the current HL limitation, is to use permanent adjustments on the Personal tab to do the increase.
Code:
Add Permanent Adjustments
Character Creation Karma
Show the karma for the skill increase(s) as spent
Add Permanent Adjustments
Skill
Select the active skill
Add the ranks purchased by karma
Once the character creation details are locked, HL does allow individual skill rating increased from the advances tab

HL does let you increase the skill after creation but it hates it and says there is an error. Then it won't let you increase the other skills back up to reform the Skill Group.

I think if you have all the skills in the group at the same level (Or even at different levels but all greater than 1) then a Skill Group should automatically form up to the lowest common skill rank.

Also you can't have specializations without breaking up the Skill Group. I think this rule needs to go away.
