Show Editor on MacOS Big Sur not working

Used HeroLab for years but brand new to creating home brew feats, magic items, etc. Able to do so on Windows laptop without a problem using Tools--> Show Editor. When I tried the same thing on my MacbookPro macOS BigSur, I get the Hero Lab Editor window with a blank grey box in the center and it goes nowhere. I have tried simple things like restarting HL and rebooting my computer. HL is up to date. Otherwise I don't know what do do. Admittedly I am not a computer wiz. Any ideas on how to fix this?
