Hi!

Is there a way to add more detail to the ships that you can choose from under the gear tab? I'd like to have a rather customizable ship, but I do not see anything to make custom transport.

Unfortunately not. Ships are mostly just description on a gear pick. You could pretty easily create a new gear item and give it whatever description and price you like.
 
ShadowChemosh was working on/has finished and yet to release, a working version of the ship rules from Fire as She Bears. I'm looking forward to that.
