Server Synth Failure -500 With 1.0.43

Jay_NOLA

Well-known member
I had the .202 version installed and it messes up my Realms and I reverted back to the .200 version and a back up of my realm so they would be ok and so I could work on them offline and have access to a non-messed up till the new build got released.

I just installed the 1.0.43 version and it won't let me synch my realm

I keep getting a Synch Server Failure -500 error message.

It also asks me if I want to use the local file or the cloud file for the realm.

I'm choosing local as that is the most current version and has about 40 additional entries.

I'm having the same issue. however, in other synchronization attempts I got the message: "Sync failed due to comunications fault. Check your network
connections and try again".

I sent a bug report.

I contacted support and they told me to send them my MASTER.REALM data file and that it would need to get fixed up by support and not to do any data entries with Realm Works till it is looked at and fixed.

FYI, the -500 sync issue means that something unexpected occurred on the server side. Once the problem gets reported, we can investigate on this end by looking at the server logs. The details of one problem are often very different from the next, even though the error code reported is the same.

Well so far support has sent me two different fixes of my MASTER.REAL file with no luck as I'm still getting that error.

Plus, I found out that the 203 version messed up the backed up copies of my realms exempt for one so now my current unbroken realms are spread out among two back ups of the MASTER.REALM file.

I've had this error for at least two patches now. Every patch I hope that there is something in the patch to fix this issue because I am not looking forward to re-entering anything or losing data. I sent support an email last friday, still haven't heard anything yet.

I sent support both copies of my REALM.MASTER file.

So they have both as of a couple of days ago.

I haven't heard back from support since I tried the 2nd fix and let them know about the patch messing up back up realms and sending them a drop box link to another back up of REALM.MASTER file and 2nd fix not working.

Methinks there are quite a few of us with the -500 error. And since it can be just about anything causing the error, these likely take more time. Patience young jedi.

We just fixed a variety of issues within the release that's going out now. I'm not sure whether any of the above issues has been fixed, since I don't know each of your specific details. If not, we still have a list of issues we're continuing to work through.

FYI, we prioritized issues based on how many people were experiencing them. If you're the only one with a particular issue, we probably didn't get it fixed yet. If there was a group of you with a particular error, we've probably got it fixed. We'll be fixing the remaining bugs ASAP.

This is probably the bugger that was causing my realm to have a tummy ache: "When the target of a map pin has been deleted and the realm has been synced up to the server and then back down again, but never editing the smart image to trigger a cleanup of the map pin, subsequently doing a sync that sends the entire realm up to the server to overwrite what’s there would result in a crash."

Thank you for the fix!

The new 1.0.1045.205 build didn't fix anything for me. Realm Works still gives a -500 synch error if I try to upload one Realm and it still overwrites my non-messed up ones with messed up ones that are on the cloud.

I just tried checking to see if I could get Realm Works first to fix my cloud backups of some realms with the Upgrade to 202 backup and use the non messed up ones.

The -500 synch occurs if I try an upload the one realm that is one anther back up and more current than the 202 backup.

Overall new build didn't fix anything for me.

I sent support an update.

Version 205 fixed the -500 error I was getting syncing my largest realm. Now, they all are syncing without complaint.

Thank you!

After the new update my Realm Works began crashing at a specific topic and also when I was trying to save changes to other topics.

I then installed the newer update (205 it think you call it), and deleted the local preferences. Then I could open Realm Works and avoid the corrupted topic, but Realm Works was still crashing at the same topic (which is a large city I have made many changes to in the last few days).

Lastly I tried to roll back to an early backup as described in the release notes (202) and now I get this error when I try synching with the cloud:

"Sync failed due to a communications fault. Check your network connections and try again. I can see by reading in this forum that this error is "common" and the it can be caused by many different things, so I have tried to sync several times with no luck.

I'm now afraid to even open RW as I have already lost valuable data due to the rollback to 202.

I have also sent in a bug report.

I think RW automatically creates a backup when you open the program and retains the last 8-10 copies (maybe in My Documents). If you go and make a copy of your automatic backups ASAP, LWD customer support might still be able to help you salvage that data from before you rolled back.

Yes, you should have backups in (My) Documents/Realm Works from your last 10 launches. Also in there should be a backup of your database from when you last upgraded from a database from 200 (or earlier) to 201 (or higher).

Second or so patch and still no fix to this issue. I did notice that it is affecting only one of my realms (happens to be my most used realm at the moment). I tried deleting my local content and syncing to the server but still received the same error.

Make sure we get the latest crash report. There are still some open issues that we're working through. If we get an updated crash report, we'll be sure to have the latest details to help us diagnose the problem.

The new 206 build didn't fix anything regarding this didn't fix anything for me.

The new build didn't fix anything for me.

I sent support an update.

I am actually wondering if the realm that I can't sync can be deleted off the cloud so that I can upload the one I have on my computer.
