Hi All,

I'm a new user. I have a question about content linking, really I'm just checking if I am doing something wrong. This is my second attempt at posting, the first has not appeared. If it appears later I will (hopefully) delete one of them.

So then:
When I'm editing a snippet and then I save the text is parsed for words that match an existing topic and I'm asked if I want to link. That's great.

When I'm editing a snippet and I decide that one of the words should become a topic I can right click and have two options to create that topic from the selected word and it all to link up. The two options being to create an empty topic in the background or go straight to editing it now. This is also great.

If I am editing a snippet and I want to create a link to an existing topic... But I cannot remember the name or the spelling? By which I mean, can I drag and drop from the list on the left into the snippet text box to insert (and link) a topic, or is there a key combo to show a pick list of available topics?

As I said in my previous attempt, really good software.

Not that I'm aware of. However in general searching is really easy in RW so finding a topic shouldn't ever be that hard. First of course is the navigation pane which will have all the topics in the tree structure which you can expand and browse if you simply cannot remember anything about the topic.

But if you know any relevant things about the topic you can search for it. Click the magnifying glass icon at the top of the navigation pane at that will open the search dialog.
 
BTW if you go into the settings menu (not at my desk so don't have the exact instructions) you can enable auto-linking. This makes it so it will skip all user prompts when it finds an exact match. You will still get a prompt for duplicate matches.

That's cool, but I'm going to keep that off.

If I think i know the topic word and then misspell/mistype it then save, the content link creation box *not* coming up tells me I made an error. I can use that as a way of working.

Text searching is very useful.

Tag searching is also very powerful. I strongly suggest that if you intend to have a large realm that you use tags as much as possible.
