Sci-Fi Companion

Oh I can definitely see where Skill Chips would be a sticky problem, but the fact that all of that other stuff is being implemented is really good news. Thanks for the update, Colen! As you may have noticed from most of this thread (before the final posts here) I think you have a slightly different crowd than the one you'd had for Realm Works. We're not likely to complain a bunch if something gets delayed, most of us probably have a little better understanding here that delays are going to happen. I think we just prefer having an occasional update and we might still grumble about how long it's taken but we're probably not as likely to get mean about it or anything.

Also, thanks for the clarification on the Realm Works/Hero Lab team split. I don't think any of us were necessarily viewing the issue that way, but more along the lines of overall resources. Let's face it, if Realm Works is going to bring you more money than HL (certainly compared to the SW version of HL) than that's where you're more likely to hire developers and put general company resources. That's a part of the equation I know I, at least, don't have an answer to beyond trying to get folks to use the SW version of HL so it could make you more money and, therefore, be worthy of a bit more of those overall resources. I've done what I can there, but I'm sure it's just not quire enough. :)

Sorry about the delays with the Sci-Fi Companion, everyone. :( The book had a ton of new mechanics that had to be supported (cyberware, starships, walkers, modifications for weapons and vehicles, etc) which took a lot of time to get right. We're down to one last thing that's causing issues (Skill Chips) - once that's done we should be ready to release, barring anything discovered during final testing.

FYI, the Realm Works team is totally separate from the Hero Lab team. Nobody splits their time between both products, and we've never taken anyone off Hero Lab to work on Realm Works instead.

Thank you. Good things arrive to those that wait.

Yeah, to make it clear, I wasn't suggesting you'd so much "moved" team to RealmWorks as that if you were going to hire new people, that's where they'd go. And like Zarlor said, its understandable that the SF Companion has been a big project--but its been a little disillusioning that there's been few updates, and those that have come have apparently been--overly optimistic.

Forgive this last delay, as Colen said, Skill Chips are being sticky. Once that's knocked out, we should be ready. Working on it right now.

Thanks for the update, Colen. I understand that the SFC isn't an easy addition. However, the lack of updates was frustrating. The recent updates and communication are greatly appreciated.

Thanks again. Eagerly awaiting the SFC release!

For anyone who missed it here is the latest update in the November Updates:

"Savage Worlds players will soon be able to use new races and cyberware, build their own starships and power armor, and more with the Science Fiction Companion. Releasing in the next two weeks for only $7.99, this add-on will be a must-have for every Savage Worlds campaign!"

Those who already own the file

Question. For those of us who already purchased the Science Fiction and Super Powers companions, how will the new update files be sent to us? Will we be notified when they're available and we just have to download them?
