Recognition of Macros/HTML in Roster Output

Hey guys,

A relatively minor thing that has been a bit of an irritation in 3.3 is that macros / text formatting code used in Item Descriptions & Summaries don't seem to be recognised by the time it comes to Print Preview and Roster Output.

For example:
"Longbow. Blah blah blah;"
whilst appearing correctly in the roster construction view, is showing up as:
"{B}Longbow.{/B} Blah blah blah;"
when it comes to print.

I was wondering if this was intentional, a side-effect, or a very minor bug?

Thanks in advance.

If you can actually see the {b}{/b} codes, it sounds like a bug. Can you give me an example of where to find this (game system, army and unit/option(s) to add) so I can investigate?

Thanks.

I've been using Warhammer 8th Ed, and the simplest way to reproduce it is to open any army roster:

1. Choose the global 'Spells' unit from the list of available units.

2. Pick from the list of spells shown in the Unit Options of 'Spells.'

3. Whilst macros/coding show up fine in the roster view, have a look at the Print Preview of the roster with such spells selected, or right-click on the spell Unit Options for their descriptions, and that's when you'll see it.

Alternatively, one can get the same result by picking a Lord/Hero character from available units, and having them select a Magic Weapon/Armour/Talisman/Enchanted Item. The issue will show up within those options' multiple choice lists with any item with coding in its description.

The issue seems specific to anything classed as an 'Item' by AB / ABCreator, it doesn't seem to affect proper 'units.'

Cheers again, hope that was useful. :)

indeed you hit the nail right on the head. I'm hoping its a slghit error in the new version of armybuilder, but if it isn't i've started stripping the macro tags for a worse case scenario.

any update on this issue of being able to see formatting in printouts (including print prieview) for items?

I askl because if no fix is intended i will update the data files with the stripped formatting. If a fix for this is planned (for the near future) then I will leave the formatting for the time being.

We're definitely planning a fix for this in Army Builder 3.3b, which should be out soon (hopefully in the next couple of weeks). So I don't think this is something you need to worry about changing right now.

Thanks.

check in on this bug

Hi
Just checking in on this bug. Will it be fixed soon Not a big deal, but annoying.

There has been at lease 2 updates since this was reported.

Thanks

The update to fix it should be included (according to posts above) in the AB3.3b update which is the update for the Armybuilder program not the updates that are released for the data files.
The 3.3b update has not been released yet as the current version is 3.3a.
