Realm Works Player Edition - The Home Stretch

Now you're going to get people's hopes up. :) While I love you all, I'm not going to be sending out a newsletter at midnight. Friday ... sometime... is what I'm shooting for.

I'm sure you mean it, Liz, but I'm equally certain that you don't love me.

Also...

3:52 on Tuesday 25th April 351 BC?

Custom calendars confirmed! :p

Newsletter is out. You can read the Player Edition section here. We know many of you are looking for us to say "Player Edition will be out [insert date here]", but we simply don't want to do that at this point with our experiences. So for now, we'll say "real soon" as we said in the newsletter, and leave it at that.

Oh, sure, Liz, just go and post something to get everyone's anticipation up. Couldn't just leave it with my simple, minimalist response.

Tsk!

It's like you do it on purpose.

;)

Hey, it's true. :) I think it'd be even more mean to be planning to give an update and respond with "IDK. I'll share an update sometime in the future."

SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
:)

Seriously, ya'll know Rob has Liz in a vise right? he isn't going to squeeze it out of her till he is ready to turn that handle.. I'm certain she would be happy to convey what she knows, .... but then there is that ole... who's name signs the check...... eh?
:p

It's actually a team thing. I'm in communication with the Realm Works team as a whole, not just Rob. I even participate in their meetings. In fact, when Player Edition goes out the door, the dev team and I will be the ones flipping the switches to make it go live.

Anyway, the decision to not give a release date is not for lack of information on my part or because I'm being forced to not say anything. It's a decision that Rob and I made together, after feedback from users and our own internal discussions. As those of you that follow along have seen, issues can come up unexpectedly that delay releases. Would it be nice to give release dates or more concrete release hints? Definitely. However, every time we miss a promised (or even hinted) release, it picks away at our users' trust in us regardless of the reason. Trust is easy to lose and hard to win back. With this in mind, the decision to not give specific release dates is one I agree with whole-heartedly.

As for how things are going, the last time I spoke with members of the dev team, they were feeling good with where things are at right now. For more info, I'll be putting out an update later this week (as I mentioned before). I hope that clarifies things a bit!

I'm pretty sure Galen and I are just teasing (I certainly know I am).

We both know how this whole thing goes, and we both know you've been through the wringer with updates and anticipated release dates on this project before. We're also both damn big fans of Realm Works, and want it to be everything it can possibly be. (Hey, have you thought about marketing it to governments for storing legislation?)

Updates are awesome, and of course we want more. But we're certainly not going to start bashing down your door about them.

You guys are awesome. Please, keep it up. You're doing great.

Now, about that update...

Couldn't have put it better +1

Hey maybe some more emocons... face palm, Just Jokin? so as not to convey wrong message.... where's Colen when you need him....:D

@ Liz, it was nice to here how well integrated you are with the Developer team.... most PR are only the corporate sales pitchers..... So not just a pretty face after all... hehe

Cool, you can never tell over these gosh darn interwebs. :) Regardless, I think some of my integration in the Realm Works team is not well known, so I'm glad that's more out in the open in case anyone was curious.
