Realm Works 1.0.30, 1.0.31, and 1.0.32 Now Available – With Custom Views

I'm British, too, and I can never understand how anyone thinks that the right side of the road could be the right side of the road.

I'm right, right?

For about a year I was going to India for 4-6 weeks, then back home, then back, etc. I never had to drive in India, but you forget how this affects walking as well. You have to keep reminding yourself to look the correct way before crossing the street. Ma always taught me to look both ways when crossing the street but you learn to look one way on YOUR side and the other way on the OTHER side.

At least I was only run down once with no major damage.

FYI, there's another bug fix release that just went out. This fixes a sync issue and a few other problems that have been uncovered in the latest round of changes.

Liz will be providing a few more details tomorrow, but I wanted to let everyone know it's available now. :)

Hi everyone! As Rob mentioned, a new update went out last night (1.0.1032.192).

This update fixes sync issues some people were running into, and addressed a number of other issues (some of which are listed below). To see the full list of changes, please take a look at the Release Notes available within the product

Some Issues and Problems Addressed in this Release:
  • If a topic or article was removed from a view and then re-added to the same view between syncs, all subsequent attempts to sync the realm would fail.
  • Switching to a built-in view of topics or articles while the invert state is enabled was not clearing the invert state for the new view, resulting in nothing being shown.
  • Assigning personal and private attitude relationships using drag-and-drop was ignoring the assigned attitude and always setting it to neutral.
  • Reworked code pertaining Quick Create to possibly address an issue that a few users were having but we couldn’t reproduce in-house. This may or may not have actually fixed the container section being disabled when it shouldn’t.

Hi there!

When I am currently on the story view and duplicate a visible topic, shouldn't the new topic be visible in the new View as well?

Iam working with the story view at the moment.

That sounds like a bug, which has been officially logged for investigation (and correction if it's truly a bug).

Just curious....what are the chances that open tabs for GMs could be added to the views? I often have a bunch of tabs open depending on what I do and those often correspond to the views I've chosen to make.

Sorry if this was suggested already somewhere; I didn't see it here but didn't look in the Feature Request area.

I'm still just digging into these things but I'm really liking this so far save for the amount of initial investment but I honestly don't think there's a way around that, so 'cheers' Rob and team. Nice job.

I am loving the custom views.

I have three parties playing in the same game world, so being able to have a view for each is fantastic. Completely changed how I manage their data, for the better.

I'd really like to be able to turn off the icons for the global views, though. I'd really like to have icons for my personal views, and be able to access the global view via the menu button. This goes for both articles and topics. The global views take up two slots on my UI that I'd rather use for views that I use more often.

Put the ones you want to access frequently on the Quick Access Toolbar and collapse the Ribbon. (I've used that setup for most of the time I've used Realm Works.)

That's actually really handy, thanks.

But would still prefer the "Text and larger, more useful graphic" icons over the "tiny coloured circle and no text" option if it was available... :)

For a long time I only had World, Mechanics, and Paste Special.

Somewhere I have a WIP post about how much Realm Works doesn't use the Ribbon for a Ribbon app, but I still haven't finished it. Maybe I'll dig it back out again.

Microsoft actually do make some nice software - but every so often (too often if you ask me) they apparently suffer from acute "brain haemorrhage" and produce something like ribbons (which has slowed down my excel work to a crawl) and Win8.

I am just happy that RW seems to have managed to use ribbons in the least harmful way I have seen so far.

Is there an external link to download updates? I'm having trouble getting the update tool to work. It keeps getting hung up and never finishes downloading.

OK so I spent a great deal of time and i have re organized my entire capaign into chapter views. I have to say this is a great add-on, still miss my story vs world almanacs, but this is a sweet way to work.

Being able to see each chapter in its own tab certainly makes it much more managable, andc will help keep it clean for play.

But only three allowed on the ribbon? I have tons of space left, would love to be able to have many more, I would like have 5 plus the default world view.

You can create up to 7 custom views for topics in the World Almanac, and up to 7 custom views for articles in the Mechanics Reference. However, you may show at most 3 custom views of each type directly on the ribbon. The rest are available from their respective custom view dropdown menu.
