Have not gotten a response yet, so I thought I'd repost it since it's holding me up.

I guess I don't have firm (if any) grip on how this works. Here's what I have:

Unit "A"comes with 2 Half-tracks in it. Both half-tracks come with a machine gun. One of the half-tracks has the option to upgrade the MG to an anti-tank gun. I gave the Half-tracks, which are added to unit "A" as a child unit at a size of 2:2, the option for a MG (linked via auto) and an option for an anti-tank gun (linked via Cost). I then gave the child unit of half-tracks the local attribute: rmdr:Weapon=#-option=xMG1. The MG has a category of "Standard " and the special attributes of: rang:1-2-start=2-unit=lpSK250a and dsab. The anti-tank gun has a category of "Weapon" and no special attributes. I just want each half-track to come with a MG and when the user selects the anti-tank gun, one of the MGs is replaced with the anti-tank gun. What else do I need to do?

Thanks,

Keith

Disclaimer: I haven't tried this, I'm just guessing :-)

Try adding "rang:0-1" to the anti-tank gun... From the Help for rmdr:
"The primary objective for this attribute is in use with groups of
ranged options." I'm guessing that it doesn't work for NON-ranged
options...

Cheers,
Russell.

Thanks for the help. It will add the anti-tank gun, but it will not lower the number of MGs by one.

Thanks,

Keith

Okay, another question.

rmdr:Weapon=#-option=xMG1 This means, what ever option, with category Weapon, is not selected by the user, the remainder will be give the option xMG1 right? So, if they only chose one option with the Weapon category, the other options would get xMG1?

Thanks,

Keith

I think you should either give the machine gun the category "Weapon"
instead of "Standard", or change the rmdr attribute to
"rmdr:Weapon+Standard=...". if that doesn't work, let me/us know... I'm a
bit rusty on AB stuff right now, but I think that should do the trick.

As I understand it... the total select count of all options of
category "Weapon" will be subtracted from the model count "#" and
put into the xMG1 attribute.

I just did some testing and Colen is correct (despite being rusty).
You need to either add both Weapons to the Weapon category, or
specify both categories in the rmdr attribute.

Funny really, that was my first thought, but I hadn't tried it and
the doco didn't seem to indicate it, so I didn't mention it! I
should've tested it a couple of days ago when you first asked.

Enjoy,
Russell.

Sweet, thanks for the help! That made the number of MGs decrease by 1 when the anti-tank (AT) gun was added. But, if you then deselect the AT, it does not add one back to the number of MGs. Oh, and I just added Standard to the rmdr attribute.

Thanks,

Keith
