Race restrictions on Classes

Hello everyone, new to HeroLab and Pathfinder but so far impressed with both. I used to play DnD back in the 2nd Edition days so I am not a total stranger. At any rate I have a two fold question.

1. I see it is possible to restrict certain alignments in Races but is it possible to restrict classes? For example if I did not want to allow a Dwarf to select Druid as a class can that be done and how?

2. Related to the first question but possibly more complex. Is there a way to limit the total possible levels a race can attain in a class? For example if I wanted to limit all Dwarves to a max of 10th level Ranger is that possible?

I appreciate any help.

Both of what your asking can be done in that you would want to give a "warning" that they have invalid character. You can't actually stop them from adding the class or levels.

As you say your new have you read up on using the Editor and scripting? As both tasks require the use of the editor. So first I recommend reading the Glossary of Terms. Then check out FAQ#2 for all the places to learn about the editor and watch the first couple videos.

I am going to give my opinion here next so feel free disregard. But as you say your new to Pathfinder my advice is to play it fully by the rules as written. Don't try and bring old edition logic to Pathfinder as it does not work well. I made this mistake when I first started off and it was frustrating to me and my players.

I see, so it would just be a warning. Not what I was looking to do. Still, very good information thank you.

I have not read up on the scripting and greatly appreciate the links. I did watch some videos which were helpful but did not see the Glossary of Terms; that will be very helpful I think.

Also, thank you for the advice. I am attempting to avoid bringing anything over play-wise, just looking into new options for the players for the future. As I consider all the possibilities Hero Lab may be able to offer I am exploring to see if they are possible or not.

Edit: I should probably clarify that I was not actually looking to create class/level limited Dwarves. I was just wondering if such a thing was possible in Hero Lab.

Also, your Forum name, does it have anything to do with Chemosh from DragonLance by chance? Just wondering.

This is actually a "feature" of HL in that it never hard-stops you from doing invalid stuff. So lets say you want a level 1 NPC with 4 feats. HL will give you a warning that its not valid but it will let you do it and correctly apply the feats to your NPC.

Lets say you as DM lets Wizards pick three schools to specialize in. Again HL will give a warning but it won't stop your players from adding three schools.

Also feel free to ask questions as everyone was new at one point. At the same time searching these forums is often very helpful. LOTS of info buried in it.

No problem. Just something I learned from experience so thought I would share. ;)

Yes =) I played in and read all of the Dragonlance stuff back in the past. Now we do pretty much Paizo stuff. But I grew up reading Dragonlance. :D
