question on custom feat

I made a custom feat extra arcana for a new Prestige class that I am doing.
the feat would not show up in the feat selsection area when the feat was nested within the prestige class htat I made it for. but when I closed the editor
and reopened it and made a new data file and created a new feat it worked fine
dies anyone have any idea what caused this to happen?
