Psionic item with power points

I'm looking at a psionic item that provides a pool of power points, similar to the charges in a wand.

The item bootstraps a number of powers to a character whilst worn, similar to bonus feats. But unlike wands it can use the manifesters level to determine effects instead of the creators level if the user is higher in level!

Okay here's the rub, I have to script a caster or manifester level that overrides the level of the item, if it's greater. I have to display a pool of power points that doesn't add to the existing power point total as the extra is only applicable to the items bonus powers but it still needs to be a tracked resource on the in play tab!

I'm thinking a charges display of the correct number but I want to bootstrap the power point mechanism to the charges mechanism, is this possible?

How do I determine caster level versus item level for purposes of DC calculation and get it to show on the character sheet as per spells or powers for the bonus powers provided by the item?

I'd recommend waiting until the staff's use of the wielder's caster level is implemented, then borrow that.

Psicrowns are staves, they just take up a different item slot.

Properly implementing psicrowns (they'll probably have their own editor tab) is of course on my to-do list, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to that.

Okay I'll wait until staves are implemented perhaps you could also throw a psicrown in from the Expanded Psionics Handbook too just to give us psionicists a starting point?

Just a thought.:)
