Problems with .user files

I'm having a problem with the files that contain user created content (the .user files)

I just had to re-install on my computer, and before I did so I saved a .user file that I had created before the re-install.

I've since got HL back up and running, with everything hunky-dory with one odd problem.

I've copied the user file back into the data/pathfinder directory, but HL refuses to see it.

Just to make sure I wasn't insane I downloaded a couple more .user files from the PF SRD site, and out of the 3 I downloaded (4 in total including my own) it only recognizes one of the data files and displays it in the checkbox list when I configure a hero.

I'm really new to HL and I'm trying to figure out if there is something I am doing wrong.

Oh one other tidbit of info... I can load all these user files in the editor just fine, browse the information, and whatnot. It just won't see them in the Configure Hero screen.

Thanks,
Thorn.

After fiddling with it a bit of an update:

My user created content is available, but I am still unable to see it under 'User Content' in the Configure Your Hero section...

Also when I load a portfolio that has a few heros in it that use some of that custom created content, it gives me a bunch of errors, like the content isn't there.

BUT...I can go in an reselect some of the custom created content, and it eliminates the errors.

I guess the big thing now is the fact that I cannot see my user content in the CFH screen, and when loading a portfolio that relies on it, it errors out until I re-select the content.

Have you restarted HL, switched game systems (and then choose Pathfinder again) or pressed ctrl-r to reload the data files since you added the .user files back to the folder?

Yeah, numerous times. I've even went into the data editor, loaded the file, changed something, saved the file, exited out of the program entirely, and came back in and it still won't appear in the configure hero screen.

At least I'm able to access the content which I suppose is what counts. But it'd be nice if I was able to check or uncheck the content. Up until I monkeyed around with it a bit, I was unaware I was able to see the content of the data file at all.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

Do you get any error messages during the reload?

The only error I've ever received during the entire fiasco is right after re-install when I loaded my portfolio with four heroes in it. Once I re-selected all the stuff that was contained in the user data file and re-saved the portfolio, the program hasn't given me a single error since.

You've checked your data files in the editor to make sure that the information is listed there as being assigned to a source?

Is our copy of HL installed in c:Herolab or in the Program Files directory?
