M&M 3rd ed. Problem with Enhanced Trait and Energy Absorption

Apparently under the Trait selection you can't select Regeneration as a trait option for Energy Absorption. You are not able to do it under Enhanced Trait as well.

Nope. Powers don't show up under there. Really, your best bet is to use either a Flaw to indicate that your power only works in reaction to getting hit by a certain sort of damage. Source could work. Alternately, Limited could work, especially if the regeneration only works against Energy attacks. Lastly, you could do it as a Complication, but it will then only show up periodically where it would have been helpful for you to be self-healing damage, but you can't due to not having been hit by an energy attack lately. I'd personally go with the a -1 Flaw here.

Tried your suggestion. It doesn't work. At all.

It's clearly stated in the M&M 3rd Edition Deluxe Rulebook that Energy Absorption can be connected to Strength and sometimes Regeneration. It's meant to be an open-ended thing.

The same goes for Enhanced Trait. It is supposed to be any trait. And powers are traits.

The easiest way to get it to work is to build two powers - say, your base "Regeneration" power, and then build a second Regeneration power named "Energy Absorption: Regen" that has the "Stacks With" extra and the "Fades" flaw.

At least, that's how I'd do it. Points-wise it's the same cost as Energy Absorption: Regeneration would be.

I was reading through old posts and found this. You'll have a problem with Regeneration not accepting the Reaction modifier since Regeneration's default action as a Defense is None. To get around that, add the Sustained modifier to Regeneration first, then Reaction and Fades. A little clunky, but will allow you to build a Energy Absorption Regeneration effect.
