Problem setting up mulitple Link options when using text fil

I can't setup more than one link nature using the abdata tool. It keeps
giving an error:

ERROR - Duplicate of Link Entry Encountered - From = xcrpg To = xcrpg

This is how the text looks:

xcrpg xtlmdl incl
xcrpg xtlmdl hide

The funny part is I can do this within ABCreator and when I dump the file to
text and run it through ABData it fails with the error above. Looks like
some kind of parsing problem with ABData.

Having two links from the same record to the same record is illegal. To
achieve the effect you want, keep the 'incl' link and just give the
option the 'hide' attribute.

I understand now. Thanks.

Ok - then let me ask you this. I have an hidden option that is defined as
'incl'. It is appearing in the "roster notes" for the unit. How do I stop it
from doing that? It is also showing up in the printout and I don't want it
to.

Next question. I have an option which is visible, it adds a child unit, but
I don't want it, i.e. the option, to show up in the roster notes or the
printout. How do I do that?

Option display is controlled mainly via the abbreviation for the
option. If the option has an abbreviation, it is displayed. If it
doesn't have an abbreviation, it's not displayed. This is the
simplest way to make an option show or not show.
You can vary these behaviours with the invs option attribute.

Russell

I'm already doing what you suggest. My problem is that even though the
option is not visible on the screen it shows up in the roster notes for the
unit i.e. right mouse click on a unit and select "show roster notes". Next
even though the option is not visible on the scree it shows up in the
printed report.

Found it. After sending my email I was struck by something you said 'You can
vary these behaviours with the invs option attribute'. I looked at the help
for 'invs' and found the 'noprint' option. When I applied it then both of my
problems were solved. It seems kind of strange to me that 'noprint' removes
the option from the roster notes but it works so I'm not complaining. :-)
Thanks for the kick in the right direction.

You could either give it no abbreviation, which will make it not appear
in either, or the 'invs:noprint' attibute.

Same way as above. Options only appear in the printout if they have an
abbreviation, unless they have the invs:noprint attribute.

The roster notes simply show you what information will appear when the
roster gets printed. Therefore, using "noprint" controls what appears
within the roster notes. :-)
