problem instaling 7.12 update on Ipad

Only thing that pops to mind is to make sure that you've updated Hero Lab Play in the App Store before trying to install Pathfinder 7.12. You should be running 4.1.3 (top-right corner of Hero Lab for the iPad).
 
I run 4.1.3 and v7.12 of the data. But since I installed 7.12, one of my .hl fils refuse to install.
I get:
"The file could not be imported because: Newer version of Hero Lab required! Make sure you're using the latest version of the product."
I tried re creating the .hl and I get the same message. I also tried re importing other .hl files and they work fine.

Any idea what can cause this ?

I'm having exactly the same problem with the same error message. I can't seem to get an *.hl import of a *.user file imported into the iPad app. It keeps giving me an error message.

Hi Guys,

I'm getting the same message. It only seems to occur from .HL files that I created/export from my .user files.

I can import ShadowChemosh ranged touch .HL file okey. Thread

Anyone come up with why this is happening or what the solution is?

No idea, Mezme, but I'm having the same problem.

Chemlak, I've checked repeatedly for updates both on my desktop version and on my iPad.
 
Could this stem from .hl files being made in the latest version of HL (desktop) clashing with the latest version of HL (iPad)?

Appears to be the case. I just tried putting out the latest version of my House Rules and it won't install either (same message as above). The previous version installs without issues but the one I just created today won't. :(

I sent off some examples of working and non-working .hl files to Colen. So I would expect they will figure something out soon.

I just installed herolab on my ipad and I'm trying to import a character via e-mail. I follow the instructions, but when I click on the file, nothing happens....
any suggestions?

Sorry no ideas. From email I click on the .por file and it asks me to open in Hero Lab. I click on the HL app icon and the app opens up just fine.

You getting any error message at all? Tried restarting the iPad? Tried reinstalling the app? Those are the things I would be starting with.
 
I was able to recreate the .hl on a friend PC that was not updated instead of my updated mac and it load fine on my iPad. The problem is really related to .hl files generated with the latest desktop version, possibly specifically on the mac version.
 
Sadly, I know zilch about the iPad version, so I've flagged this issue to Colen's attention. Hopefully, he'll be able to shed some light on what's going on after he has a chance to investigate it in the morning. Please stay tuned for an update and sorry for the inconvenience!

Sorry about this. I've posted a solution for the problem here:

The problem is that the latest version of the Pathfinder data files require Hero Lab 4.2 on the desktop, and that requirement is incorrectly being "inherited" by any data files exported by HLExport, even though Hero Lab 4.2 isn't out yet on the iPad.

There's an updated version of HLExport at the above link that should tide you over until Hero Lab 4.2 is approved for the iPad, which should happen around the end of this week (it was submitted Friday evening).

is there any solution for mac version? i have 2 mac licenses and don't use the pc desktop hl :-(

No error message or anything. literally nothing happens. I've reinstalled the app and restarted the ipad. Still does nothing. is this tied to this version issue mentioned?
