Paying for magic custom armor/weapons

While using an ipad I can not get HL to deduct my gold when I buy the item. I am creating a custom item. I enter the value in the boxes for the amount to pay, and then click buy. I revive the item but it does not deduct the gold. Is this as intended and I have to make a journal entry to deduct hold?
