Pathfinder / Ultimate Magic update

I know that Piazo creates the creatures, but their method of creation is based on D&D 3.5 rules. They even say for the NPC where the information comes from, the majority being The Tomb of Horrors, which si not a Pathfinder book. Some are created better then others but most are looking for templates, abilities, special abiltiies, and feats that are not in the Pathfinder system.

Even the number of spells and feats that are given to an NPC or monster can be grossly inaccurate. Some have several more feats then they should and others have too few. Whatever process they are using, it isnt the Pathfinder system. If it were you wouldnt have 20 extra skill points left over, or over used 10 feats.

I'm just saying that if they followed the Pathfinder books it would make it a lot easier to input the data in HL.

This is called a error in the stat block or their excel spreadsheet they use. Which can happen no matter what/who does a stat block. That does not mean they are not using PFRPG. It just means its a mistake. I have entered dozens of creatures so far from Paizo and they all have small mistakes like this but it is based on PRRPG system.

So it has not that they are not using Pathfinder but that they simply have small mistakes. So for the official stuff I give to HL I leave the mistakes as is. Then it is up to each DM to figure out how to change them.

You may want to do the same for your Kingmaker stuff. In other words make it match exactly to the stat block and leave any "Adjustments" up to the next DM to figure out.

I think what chiefweasel is referring to is their heavy use of 3PP material when creating the encounters for the adventure paths (and that the 3PP material they use is 3.5 material, which hasn't been updated to Pathfinder, except in whatever spreadsheet Paizo is using).

Oh yea that could be. Though why a pain you can reverse engineer a template. Its just a pain to do.

So in that way they are using not official paizo stuff. I see now said the blind man. :)

I find it to be a bit more of an issue on the older AP's then the newer ones that came out after the PFRPG was published.

Paizo makes liberal use of the Tome of Horror books and Advanced Bestiary. As a DM I REALLY like Advanced Bestiary and wish it could be added to hero labs as well.
I'm pleased that LW is gonna go ahead and release UM in chunks as it is finished.
Thanks guys!

I redo all of the NPC's and creatures in HL before my players even start an AP.

@Rob Thanks for the updates mate, and $9.99 is brilliant.

We start a new AP on the first of June, and one of my players wants to play a Magus -- so if you can hurry it along, that would be great.

/joking :)

Thanks to you and your team for working so hard to help us time poor GM's

noobie

I am very sorry to say that your Broodmaster will have to wait longer. The ability to add multiple companions will require quite a lot of changes to how Hero Lab treats companions, and is not something that we'll be able to add in the near future.

Will it be ready by the time you add words of power? Or are we talking months to years?

Months, I'm sorry to say.

Remember, Paizo has 9 books coming out before/at Gen Con that aren't into Hero Lab yet:

Ultimate Magic
Ultimate Combat
Rival Guide
Undead Revisited
Dungeons of Golarion
Pathfinder Society Field Guide
Inner Sea Magic
Faiths of Balance
Goblins of Golarion

Bummer... but I guess I can easily enough stat the eidolons out myself until it's ready. In any event, I appreciate the regular communication between the Lone Wolf staff and us, your customers.

Can you confirm that if I purchase the $9.99 supplement for Ultimate Magic, that when things like Words of Power and the Broodmaster archetype become available, that they will be free to me given my earlier purchase for UM? Thanks.

Please follow the link to the May newsletter that Cullyn posted earlier in this thread - these are confirmed there.
