Orphaned

I have made a custom poison in the past and it worked fine. Today I made another custom poison, doing the same thing I did before, but this time when I load a portfolio with it in the inventory I get this error
Pick 'gCSpiderPo' has been orphaned due to missing thing in batch '838'
What exactly does this mean?

That means HL can't find the gear item gCSpiderPo. This can mean a) you got an error when loading Pathfinder and HL has gone into safe mode not loading any .user files. B) it means you open the character on a different version of HL and that computer does not have the .user file that contains gCSpiderPo.

Those are the most common reasons....

OK, that makes this a little more interesting. I have not gotten any errors and all my .user are loading fine (other than this error) and the .user file I am using is sym linked to a dropbox so that I can use it on different computers, as well as have my players using it, using the method detailed here.

The data file seems to be loading and saving in the editor fine, and when I press the test now button it works and can be added to the portfolio. It just doesn't seem to be loading in Hero Labs when I first start it up.

Do you have any troubleshooting advice?

That means the file is not in the correct directory. There is exactly one folder Hero Lab will look at for data files to load. To see that folder, from the Tools menu, choose Explore Folders...Game System Data Folder.

Hero Lab will not automatically load from anywhere else, not even sub-folders of that.

However, Test Now! will work no matter where the file is.

That makes sense, but it is in the correct directory and everything else in the datafile loads fine. Just not this new one.

I think I found a solution. I redid the sym link and it seemed to have fixed it. There must have been an error in the process that made the sym link not fully load.
