Nothing to Choose from when choosing ability

Greetings!

Our home campaign judge has a variant Pain Taster prestige class. It has weapon focus: unarmed strike instead of weapon focus: whip. I thought this would be easy to do, just copy the Pain Taster prestige class and change the Scourge entry. Everything works as expected, but the Disciple of Pain ability doesn't quite work. It has a link that indicates that I'm eligible to add Disciple of Pain abilities (with 1 left even). When I click it, I'm rewarded with a "Nothing to choose from!" message. Just to test, I copied the PainTaster prestige class without any changes and it wouldn't allow me to select any Disciple of Pain abilities either.

Everything seems to point to cPTaDisPai but I'm obviously missing something here. How does the actual prestige class give one the ability to select options?

Thanks!

Classes show a list of a Custom Abilities that are linked to that specific class by its Unique ID. When you did a new copy you created a new class. Yeah it has the same "name" but not the same Unique ID.

So you have tell your "New" class that it can choose Custom Abilities of the other class. So on the "Class->Class" tab look for "Allow Custom Abilities..." and select the original class.
