Negative Modifiers?

Our last encounter resulted in my druid needing to be resurrected.

Our GM has a house rule that will allow a permanent negative modifier to attacks and damage instead of the permanent loss of a level. Reduces my effectiveness, but I don't lose a feat or ability modifier due to a lost level.

I had planned to enter a permanent adjustment to attacks and damage on the Personal tab, but found that only positive adjustments can be made. Is it not possible to make a negative adjustment to a character's skills, attacks or damage?

Thanks,

- Mark

I had no issues putting in a negative to hit and damage. You put in a "Attack Bonus" and "Damage Bonus" adjustment and set the counter to be negative right?

Ugh. I'm an idiot.

Thanks for the screen shot which helped me see the light. I was stuck on the initial Condition screen where the affected conditions are chosen. The "Number to Add" option only allows positive numbers, which makes sense now. I was thinking that meant the adjustment amount instead of the number of modifiers. Once I actually selected to add one condition I was able to insert the negative modifiers to attacks and damage.

Thanks again!

I know this isn't what you asked for, but resurrection and raise dead don't actually take your levels away. They give you "permanent negative levels". This is what a "negative level" means:

For each negative level a creature has, it takes a cumulative –1 penalty on all ability checks, attack rolls, combat maneuver checks, Combat Maneuver Defense, saving throws, and skill checks. In addition, the creature reduces its current and total hit points by 5 for each negative level it possesses. The creature is also treated as one level lower for the purpose of level-dependent variables (such as spellcasting) for each negative level possessed. Spellcasters do not lose any prepared spells or slots as a result of negative levels. If a creature's negative levels equal or exceed its total Hit Dice, it dies.

You would never lose feats or ability score increases from this. Furthermore, the word "permanent" in the term "permanent negative level" doesn't mean irreversible. There are two types of negative levels: temporary and permanent. Temporary negative levels allow a saving throw each day to remove them. Permanent ones don't. That's the only difference. Negative levels can always be removed by the spell restoration. You can only remove one permanent negative level per week with restoration and it costs 1000gp each time, but spending 2000gp and having one negative level for a week still seems a whole lot better than having -2 to attacks and damage for actual forever.
