M&M 3rd ed. Need help with equipment

Ok, just purchased my license and downloaded the app. I'm trying to create one of my characters in HL and I can't figure out how to create a costume with Toughness in the equipment section. I see where I can select equipment from the book but how do I create a costume with a particular Toughness (in this case +3)? Thanks in advance for the help!
 
Create it as a device in the equipment section ... that's what I've been doing :)

Or you could go into the editor and make custom equipment ...
 
I found where I can create a custom piece of equipment but how do I get the costume's toughness +3 to show up on the overall toughness section of the character sheet?
 
Under equipment, choose the 'Device as Equipment' option. Add the Protection power and change the name to 'Armored Costume.' That should do it.

And if it becomes a standard piece of equipment in your universe, it's pretty easy to add it via the editor. Look at the Armor tab, click Add (Copy), and select one of the armor items. Adjust the name, description, and toughness bonus to your tastes and give it a unique ID (arArmorCst for example) and click on Test Now. Now you'll be able to add that Armored Costume to any of your characters.
