NCOs and Command. Opinions requested

Hi,
Here is my quandary.
The Army NCO edge gives the hero +3" on his command radius.
The SW Deluxe edition added the Commanding presence Edge which raises a command radius from 5" to 10".
In a Space 1889 campaign updated to the deluxe rule set, should the NCO Edge give the Commanding presence edge instead of just raising the command radius by 3"?
I have posted the question to Clint over at Pinnacle, but was curious as to the groups reaction. I'm getting ready to code the Army NCO edges and have to decide how I'm going to handle this.

Thanks

Well, since command radius isn't something handled in code anyway, just the text you use, I'd wait and see what Clint says, really. However, you may not want to Bootstrap Commanding Presence anyway. It's entirely possible Clint would rule that NCO provides a Radius boost irrespective of Commanding Presence, thus allowing you to take both NCO AND Commanding Presence to extend your Command Radius even further, which if I had to house rule it is probably what I would do. And if he did say it should give then Edge it's a piece of cake to just add it as a Bootstrap later.

EDIT: And I see that's exactly how Clint ruled it, too. You can take both. :)

Yup, looks like the bootstrapping is not necessary.
I guess it's going to be 5" with command 8" with NCO and 13" with Command Presence and NCO.

Just a thought, you COULD make Command Radius be a Derived Trait. That us a good idea if you have several modifiers and you want to just know the total.

You know, Seeley, that's a good point. If I was doing a serious military campaign, adding Command Radius as a Derived Trait might be just the thing. Excellent idea!
