Multiple Duplicate Powers

OK...May be missing it. I have a Wierd Scientist (from Rippers) that has two differnt gadgets with the Bolt power. (One is touch range only, the other is more standard, but non-lethal damage). But, It seems I cannot select BOLT multiple times. I think this is a matter of uniqueness, but...

Thanks!

(First post, by the way!)

Yeah, it is that the Powers are set up as being "Unique" which only allows one at a time. I'm pretty sure I mentioned it here before, but you could bring it up again in the Bug Reports thread to "+1" the idea, if you will. The only real way around it would be to set up something like a "House Rules" .user file in the editor and copy out any powers you intend to use and set those a not being Unique. You'll also need to add the original IDs of those powers to the Preclude tab and be sure to create something like a "House Rules" source that you select when creating your characters so you can select that as a source in case you need to keep things distinct from the official files.

Good Info

Thanks! I will put it up in bugs! But, since you provided a work-around, I'll use that until later!

The issue is that I don't know that we can make something conditionally unique. If it's unique for all other spell casters, it's hard to make Weird Science an exception. I'm fiarly certain the uniqueness code is built into the core.

They are not unique for other spellcasters. Any spellcaster can take any base power multiple times, they would just tend to do so because they wanted a variation of the power. I think most players probably don't play SWD that way and are more likely to take a power without really setting up much in the way of trappings, but the system is designed so that you could do so if you wanted to. So none of them should be unique unless a setting specifically made them so.
