Mounted Fury confusion

I have a level 1 "Mounted Fury" Barbarian with a Mastodon Companion. I don't have the "Animal Companion" button I would expect on the Barbarian tab, as I would with a druid or wizard. I used the 'other' tab to add an "Elephant/ Mastodon", but hacking the HUGE Mastadon into the medium sized Companion is a mess.

What am I missing? I do have the Mounted Fury archetype selected, and there is mention of this working on http://forums.wolflair.com/showthread.php?t=14609 but it looks like I am very much missing something. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction! :)

Well, reading up on the Mounted Fury archetype, it looks like you don't get your feral mount/companion until 5. The data notes state that they fixed it to work at it's appropriate lvl and negative modifier

I hope this helps.

You have to be 5th level for the button to show up on the barbarian tab - just tried it and it works. in the description of the archtype, it says you get it at 5th level. Hope that helps.

Ah! Thank you. So... in this instance, I'll have to forge a baby tagalong. I just didn't understand what I was reading, and read it incorrectly. Would there be a straight-forward way to put a Mammoth in diapers? Or should I go with Racebuilder? I don't mind having the "Minmoth" be more a liability 'companion' than something useful. That's the trouble with raising someone else's kids. Especially when the kid is a mammoth. :)
