Firstly, I can't seem to figure how to input models into inventory--in the Mage Knight files at least. Of course, I could do it in the last version just by double clicking a model or card's name.

Secondly, I added Model Number to the inventory window, removed a few others, and it worked fine. Then when I went back to move Model Number to right after release, CV caused a page fault and I had to shut it down. This has never happened with CV before by the way. When I opened CV back up and went into MK, it said there was an error loading mageknightinv.cvz or something like that and when I went into inventory, everything was back to defaults.

So I closed it down, went back into MK's inventory, and set them up again like above, but this time I forgot to hide the Format key. Everything worked fine. I went back in there and switched Format to hidden. Then CV caused a page fault again. So it closed, I opened it again, and Format was still there, but the earlier changes stayed. When I tried to hide Format again, I got another page fault and gave up.

Please help.

Yikes! Mage Knight is one of the 3 main game systems I use to test CV, so
this is quite surprising.

I just went and tried doing the exact same things you outline below. CV
worked like a charm. This is on a release build - NOT my development build.

It sounds like something went screwy with either the installation of CV,
the installation of the license, or the compilation of the MK files.
Normally, the first two would seem unlikely. However, since you had
problems with the downloads in the first place, it's not that unlikely. Try
downloading CV another time, using the link below:
http://www.wolflair.com/download/cv/cv11.exe

After you download CV again, delete the license key file from the folder
where you are installing CV. The file to delete is "cvkey.lic".

Then delete the compiled MK files. Beneath the folder where CV is installed
should be a folder named "data". Beneath THAT should be a folder named
"mageknight". Within that folder, delete the files named "core.cvz" and
"data.cvz". Do NOT delete ANY other files.

Then try launching CV. It will come up in demo mode. Go to the License menu
and select Install License. Enter your license number (it should still be
there) and your email address. Then restart CV.

Try loading the MK files again. CV should compile them this time.

Then try mucking with the inventory again to see if the problem persists.
If it does, let me know via direct email at rob@wolflair.com. I'll then
work with you to try and figure out what the problem might be so that we
can get it corrected.

Thanks, Rob

P.S. If things DO work this time, please let me know, too. That way I can
breathe easier on this issue. :-)

I was wondering if these problems might've occurred because I installed the new CV and CVA kit on top of the old ones, all into the default Cardvault folder. Could this have created errors?

Definitely not. I don't know anyone here or on the Beta team that installed
V1.1 into a separate location, except to test it out. The normal assumed
behavior is that V1.1 is installed over any existing copy of the product.
That's how it's always tested by default.

Were you able to try the reloading steps I outlined? Did they solve the
problem or not?

Okay....I clicked on the link below to DL CV again. It opened a browser window that was blank at first, then after a bit, the QuickTime "Q" logo popped up in the center. All the while a loading bar was going across at the bottom, btw. When the loading bar completed, and it said "Done" in the left hand corner like when it finishes loading a webpage or what have you, anyway, then the Q logo turned into a logo that looks like a broken film cell with the Q in it. I'm willing to concede that it's my problem, but I still need to know how to fix it, and I've never run into any of these problems before; the CV problems OR the DL problems.

Sound like QuickTime is somehow configured to try to run the file from its
location, instead of saving the file to disk.

Try right-clicking ont eh link and choosing "Save Target As."

What programs have you installed recently? It sounds like you installed
something that decided it knew best and took control over things that it
should not be handling. Or, you installed something that is buggy and is
introducing problems into your computer's operation.

I can't think of anything. Other than a game, oh and shockmachine. But that was a few weeks back. I never really like QuickTime anyway, and I never use it, so I'll start by uninstalling it.

The issue is what might have changed since the last time things were
working smoothly and your unsuccessful installation of CV. It sounds like
something sure it messing with your system right now, based on the problems
with even downloading CV. The goal of my question was simply to spark your
memory on what application might be the culprit. :-)

It could also be a new version of something that was auto-updated to blame.

I'm just taking guesses here in the hopes that it will trigger a memory
about something and lead us to the problem. :-)

Thanks, Rob

No, CV is the only thing I've updated recently, and I don't use auto-update on anything because it can cause problems. (like these;)
That QuickTime thing was weird though... I think I reinstalled QT when I installed that game...
