Mordhiem list problem

I don't know if this is the place to register list problems, but here
goes:

I'm using a Mercenary gang and have had my leader killed. According to
the rules, one of my champions takes over and I have space for another
champion. Unfortunately, the generator marks an army without a leader
as 'illegal' and, more annoyingly, won't let my champions 'hold' the
spare money.

Is there a problem with the army file or am I missing something?
