I'll re-iterate a question posed by someone in the past. Has any one
done CV files for ME:TW or any of its expansions? I'm considering
purchasing CV, but will probably only do it if those files are
available somewhere.

Thanks!
Curt

Hi Curt,

I was one of the people looking for METW files on Card Vault earlier. No
one has ever said they are doing them but hope springs eternal! Thanks for
re-asking the question. Maybe we will have to build our own for card valut
using their authoring kit. Most of the available ccg files have been built
this way by various "fans" of the ccg's I believe.

I also collect LOTR so I find CV useful for that. As a collector there are
other sets that I would like to see on CV but maybe in time this will
happen. Thanks!

Jim:

Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll look into writing them myself. I've
got a excel spreadsheet that someone else did (very thorough!) that
has all (more than) the info the data files would need. The
definition files would take some looking into though. Anyhow, If I
ever work something out I'll post it here.

Thanks!
Curt

As I'm sure Rob and Ed will post about, the authoring kit comes with LOTS of documentation to help you out, and hjeads up to Ed for that;-)

send me the spreadsheet (zipped), and I'll see if I can knock out a
definition file for you.

Wow! what a great response! I've sent the spreadsheet out to three people
who have offered to take a stab at authoring the CV files. Please let me
know if you have any question on the game or deck construction rules.

Thanks again!
Curt

If you have complete spoiler information in a spreadsheet, that's a huge
hurdle that you've already overcome. Setting up a definition file is
relatively easy if you start with an existing definition file from a
similar game and just tweak it to suit your needs. Start simply and then
build up. And steal from other data files whenever possible to make your
task easier. :->

The new V1.2 release of Card Vault includes a new CVEdit tool that will
make it possible to edit cards within data files via a graphical tool. And
writing all the rules and stats is definitely something that can wait until
after the bulk of the files are completed. If you decide to write the METW
files, you'll also find a fair bit of support available here with respect
to suggestions and solutions on how to do things. You can also send
questions directly to support@wolflair.com if you run into problems.

Hope this helps,
Rob

There are also lots of examples in the Kit, including the Examples for
Authors data files with all sorts of sample rules and stats. Lots more
examples have been added in the V1.2 Kit, as well as a bunch of stuff to
make things easier for authors.

As for the docs, all of us share those duties. Ed's been the point man on
all the user documentation, while Colen and I have been the ones writing
all the Kit documentation. You can usually tell who wrote what due to our
substantially different writing styles. :-)
