Basically every brazilian will enjoy such an update. Especially because the translated version of the book has everything adapted to the metric system (including progression tables, movement, etc)
If you need any help on that I can provide you that info, since I own both, the original and the translated version.

How does it convert the numbers? Is it just 1m = 3.3ft, or something
more complicated, like a slightly different progression table that works
better with metric?

I would love a metric units feature. It'd stop me from having to go online all the time to find out how many kilometers, etc, my character can jump and so on.
Wizard's published something on their website about Going Metric a while back, which includes information on how the conversion was done using existing rules (eg: the Star Wars RPG).
