Magic Items: Adding New Abilities

The adding new abilities section lists the capability to combine 2 or more magical items that occupy the same slot. As I am one of the people who like to do this, I was wondering if the current software can accommodate? I am sure that I could just add a new item and update the price, but it would be nice to have a magical item "merge" feature.

If this already exists and I am simply ignorant of it, please let me know.
 
You'd need to make the new item in the editor. That section is talking about how to design new magic items, not just tack two items together.
