LotR data

The new LotR data has an inconsistancy in the ids, that may not be a problem.

All but 5 cards have ids "Fan6<rarity><number>". The 5 are missing the 6,
and are cards numbered 29, 51, 67, 72, and 87. I thikn these should be
corrected to keep things clean.

"Update" in the FAQ is missing its "p" in a few spots.

IMPORTANT! Once the unique ids of cards are published in a release of the
data files, the author is pretty much stuck with keeping them unchanged.
This is because the inventory relies on the id to uniquely identify each
card. So unless you want to encourage the new author of the LotR files to
break your inventory, I recommend you avoid suggesting changes to unique
ids once data files have been published. :-)

All other types of errors and inconsistencies should definitely be reported
to the author along with an encouragement to make corrections. Unique ids
are the exception. :-)

FWIW, I made this mistake in the first release of the L5R files for WoC, so
now I'm stuck with the error and have to make sure to accommodate it in the
converter henceforth. It's the unfortunate reality of maintaining backwards
compatability of the inventory database when releasing new data files. :-)

I know, but since the files were only published today I thought it might
not be too late to correct the error before it gets entrenched...

Up to him I guess...

I actually want him to make the change, because I did it with the files
once I got them - if he doesn't *then* my inventory will be broken :)

(Memo to self, triple check LotR files before doing next update... :)

See - you always need two sets of eyes on everything. I HAVE made the change and the update is posted. It will probably generate orphaned files but if the instructions I provided with the faq are followed then its an easy fix.

Sorry for the problem and I'll try to keep a better eye on this in the future - Maybe you have nipped this in the bud before too many people downloaded it.

And to Rob - I know how important it is about the ID's - - - but just this once if we caught it quickly enough - - -

Thanx

After about 5 minutes has gone past, it's probably a bad idea..... :-)

Well, I recommend you switch you inventory back soon, else you're likely to
end up with all sorts of confusion. It would be VERY unwise for the author
to change things now.

>(Memo to self, triple check LotR files before doing next update... :)

You can also run CVCheck yourself if you wish. This will allow you to
identify changes between releases pretty readily.

I think it's "coming down the pipe." I believe it's an old oiler's reference.
