Linking topics Dialog needs improvement

Acenoid

Well-known member
Hi there!

Situation:
While linking a lot of articles and story topics alike, I start to get several duplicate topics in various sections.

Goal:
To link properly and make the right choice quickly and w/o doubt

How:
it would be great if it would show as well possible "containers" the topics are in as well as applied tags.

Acenoid, am I correct in thinking that the dialog asks to choose between two (or more) topics, but both are the same topic?

If so, have you changed the topics name recently?

Yes I get two options in the dialog that looks exactly the same.

One thing is a spell/power with some name
And the other is also a spell/power but at a different area / containment.

I am sticking to the default categories at the moment and I ended up with many "similar" icons in the mechanics section.

That would be two different topics, though both with the same name.

I've keep getting two matches that are the same topic, so it doesn't matter which one I choose.

I think it's related to the fact that I have renamed some of the topics, given some of them aliases, changed some aliases, and also added identifiers.

I wonder if changing names and things is anything to do with the -500 sync error I get in that Realm...

Here is the example
- 2 topics with matching name in different locations: "Flammenaura"
- If you link now from another topic, you will get 2 choices that look the same.

That's part of what the "Identifier" field is for.

If you put something like "Danger" in the Identifier field on one topic and "Gameplay" on the other, you would see something more like:

Target 1: Flammenaura (Danger)
Target 2: Flammenaura (Gameplay)

Well, you explained it. Sometimes I just give hints and let people try it for themselves (like the old adventure game hintbooks).
