I didn't see this particular situation in the notes about being
careful licensing AB, IIRC. I run Windows 98, on an old 486. Now, the
site DID say that upgrading the OS would modify the security code
(?), and mess up the licensing. However, if i yank my motherboard,
and throw in a P1 motherboard, would that cause the same problem?

This should only impact things if you have to re-install the O/S in the
process. In many cases, upgrading the motherboard entails various
collateral changes to the hardware. This in turn forces the need to
re-install the O/S to get everything properly in sync. If this happens to
you, then your system code is likely to change. If you can avoid this, you
should be fine. The licensing mechanism is not tied to the hardware at all
- only the O/S installation - so you will only be affected if your O/S
installation is impacted.

Hope this helps,
Rob
