License woes

I had to reinstall Windows 10.
Now I have to reinstall HL - I requested that my license keys be sent to me.
I put in my key for the PC but have to wait 90 days (I think) for activation!

I know there was a way around this because I have had to reinstall windows before.

I've contacted support for quick activation but they'll take a number of days to get back to me.

Anyone have any idea what I need to do to activate now - we have a game tomorrow.

First you can change computers/re-install OS every 120 days and HL will just transfer the license. So my first question have you entered your key and tried to activate? The few times I have upgraded my computer the HL license key transfer was easy as I was past the 120 days. So try this first.

You get two licenses with a HL purchase. It sounds like your only using "one" of those keys. You can use your "second" license to activate your main computer/laptop as it sounds like it was not in use. Each "key" goes to a unique computer and can be transferred every 120 days. In this case use your 2nd key to get up and running now.

I have two licenses. One for my laptop and one for my desktop.
I want to use my desktop (because I had to reinstall windows). If I use the license key from the laptop will I lose the ability to use HL on my laptop though?

Hmmm. Tried the one from the laptop and get the same thing ... have to wait 120 days.
God. So frustrating.

Anyhoo - have requested early access - here's hoping they'll see this and help out.

In that case correct both licenses are in use. Depending on when you last activated the laptop license you could maybe use it on the desktop.

In this case you will just have to use your laptop with HL. Unfortunately its a long holiday weekend in the US. Meaning LW won't get to license fixes like this until Wednesday I suspect. Normally they do license support issues with in about a day.

Hey at least you have one working copy of HL. :)
