Kineticist - Adding new Elements

I've a friend that's making sound/light elements as a homebrew. I have tried, but can't seem to find a way to add elements into the system. Is this something hard-coded in that can't be altered dynamically?
 
According to a note I was sent, it should be possible in the newest update, so make sure you've got the newest one.
