Item with Special Ability

Ok,

I'm back to working on magic items again.

The item has 3 trackers bootstrapped to it and they are OK. I created an ability and bootstrapped that to it as well. The ability I created is "Good Aligned Damage" (when equipped the item makes all of the damage a character does good aligned.)

When equipped all of the trackers work and the ability appears in the Special tab.

The problem is that it is grayed out and says "Requirements not met." I never specified any requirements for it and it is not a class special, just an ability.

Is there something I need to do, or undo, to make it non-grayed and display the explanatory text I entered instead of "Requirements not met"?

Thanks,

Grog

Are you seeing those abilities greyed out when the ability's not equipped and normal when it's equipped? I think you can get around that by checking "Powers Always Available?" on the item - then they'll always be active. But, if the item is one whose powers are only available while it's equipped, not while it's in your backpack, you don't want that option checked.

If that's not what's going on, you'll have to tell me more about how you've created your item, and what exactly it does.

I set up the bootstrapped trackers to only activate when equipped. They are working fine.

I was testing the 'ability', trying to just have it load equipped or not. Right now I have the 'ability' set with a name, some text stating "Your damage is considered to be good aligned for purposes of overcomming damage reduction." and I've checked the checkbox 'Show in Specials List?'

I have the 'ability' bootstrapped to the item.

The item has the "Available when Equipped" checkbox selected, which seems to have no effect on the 'ability'. It is always listed in the test character's special tab, whether or not it is equipped, and is always grayed out with the 'Requirements not met' msg.

Final result I would like the Good Aligned damage to only show in the Specials tab if the item is equipped. Right now I was just trying to get it non-gray. :)

And "Powers Always Available" did make it appear correctly in the Specials tab, but I don't really want them always available... Thanks for the help so far though. :)
