Issues with d/l and installing updates

After I installed AB and after I activated my license the screen for the updates and etc comes up. I download the "authoring" update and try to download the 40k update and it comes up with the screen "finished, install now?" click yes, then it says "AB will restart after new update is finished etc". Well I click yes for it all and AB just shuts off and doesn't come back up. And when I manually start the program it shows that the updates were never installed and it does this all the time. Is it a problem with the AB? Windows 7? My license?
 
The issue is 99.9% likely that you've installed the product beneath the "c:\program files" folder and are *not* running with Administrator privileges. Assuming I'm correct, you'll find an explanation of the problem and how to resolve it in the thread below.

Note: The original poster in the thread cites a slightly different behavior, but the problem is the same.
