Isle of Kandril

OK, I've given the Isle of Kandril a first look, and I love it! One question so far though...

Granted I've only skimmed the places topics and I may be missing it but I can't find a scale bar or any reference to distance in the Isle of Kandril setting! At a minimum, a scale bar on the main Island map would be incredibly useful...

How big is the island? How far is it from Hraga to Fort Underlord? From Runeport to the Ragecliff Ruins?

In the description of the Angualo River it says "if it were straight it would stretch nearly the length of Kandril." But how long would that be?

Also, if I wanted to put a scale bar on the map is there a way for me to edit the smart image? I know for pictures you can edit them with external applications (though I don't know how to do that either). Can smart images be edited the same way?

You can't removes images from password protected files so while there are plenty of ways none of them apply in this case.

Maybe. I've never tried.

I know you're supposed to be able to but I also know the feature is not where they want it.

Part of the issue is likely to be that you need to know the size for the overlay, and create it outside Realm Works.. so you can't really see how looks (or if you made an error) until after it has been imported.. I think. I've looked at it, and that's my understanding, which has kept me from doing an actual test.

The overlay image was a great suggestion! My process was as follows:

Used a snip tool to grab a pic of the map.
Opened it in Photoshop.
On a new layer, added in a scale bar from my CC3 files, and sized it to what I wanted.
Deleted the layer with the map, leaving the pic a very large blank layer with the scale bar properly positioned.

When I tried to import it, I got the warning Silveras mentioned regarding the images not being the same size, so I resized it to match in Photoshop.

It turned out great! The only issue is that every time I close the realm, when I come back to it I have to turn on the overlay again.

Is it OK to post a screenshot here? The pic of the map is IP, I know, so I don't want to violate that but I'd like to share the results...

There is no PDF for Kandril is there? I am interested in seeing how the realm was put together relative to the linear PDF layout. I know We Be Goblins is a PDF, but it is so short. I'd like to see how a larger project goes in relative to the linear format.

It is unique to RW. Maybe the authors have a source document but its never been published.

To see a big project as both PDF and RW you'll need to wait for either Emerald Spire or Razor Coast.

You can edit them all you want.

You cannot take the images out of RW. That is the limitation imposed on password protected imports.

Hello,
I've tried to import the file in Realm Works, but it won't accept the password given on the site (Free). I tried several ways with no success. Did some of you face the same problem?

I had no trouble. It is case sensitive so be sure to enter it exactly as 'Free'

It is possible that you've got a corrupt file. You should download the file again. Also can you import the other 2 files? You might want to try importing those into an empty realm and see if that works.

Hi dragonheels, welcome to the message boards! kbs666 is on to something, I think, check to see if you got a corrupt file by downloading again

If anyone wants to verify if they have the file downloaded without problems, the file size is 51,594,108 bytes for "IsleOfKandril.1.0a.rwsecure". Also, the MD5 hash of the file is 62a0321cf115cae41851a0d32409e6b3. There are various free tools available that can calculate the MD5 hash of files that can be used to verify it has been downloaded without problems.

Hey dragonheels

Do you have the latest Realm Works build? 237?

also, what sort of realm are you trying to import to?
