Invalid Unique ID after 2nd 'Test Now!'

This is my first post to Lone Wolf, let me know if it belongs elsewhere.

I was following the youtube video on creating magic items, and I created one. I copied a bead of force to use a template for a goodberry. I gave it a unique ID of 'SSGoodbry', changed the name and hit 'Test Now!' It compiled fine. So following the instructions, I went in and made the additional changes to the item, saved it, then I hit 'test now' again, and I get the unique ID error message. I am not sure what I need to do? It is also now causing the unique ID error on launching pathfinder.

Help!

I searched the forums on the error and did not see anything other than checking to make sure an original item was not in the list. the only item I have loaded in the file is the goodberry.

When you get an error message, you can right-click to copy the message and paste it here. That often helps in cases such as this. Did you do a new(copy) in any of the other tabs? This is often the cause of such an error. If not, then I would suggest simply changing the unique ID, though I can't imagine any reason why it would compile the first time, but not the second time.

Thanks for the tip. I tried changing the unique ID and It still failed:

Hero Lab was forced to stop compilation after the following errors were detected:

File: Pathfinder.RPG.Magic.Items.user (line 8) - Thing 'SSGewdbry' (dynamic tag) - Invalid unique id

I forgot to mention, I don't see any numbers on any of the other tabs, so I don't believe there is anything hidden in there.

I edited my tags manually, maybe something there is causing it throw an error? I cant figure why it would have compiled the first time, and not the second. I can see the first goodberry I created in the item list, that mimics a bead of force.

If you are putting in new tags in that screen, I believe you need to first create the tag by scrolling to the bottom of the editor screen and clicking "User Tags" (right above "Sources". Then check "-New Tag-" and create it.

The problem looks to be iSchool.Transmutation - "Transmutation" is longer than 10 characters, so it's an invalid unique Id for a tag. There's a school drop-down available when creating magic items that will fill in the correct tag for you if you select Transmutation. (It's iSchool.Transmutat).

Sweet, that fixed it. Thank you everyone for the advice!

Resolution Steps:
1: Removed tag.
2: in school, un-selected Transmutation, hit OK.
3: in School, selected Transmutation, hit OK.

at that point I noticed the new tag was added correctly. Hit test now and everything worked.
