I cannot use greek characters

I was so happy when I read "The first new update of note is support for non-English letters, as well as symbols. So if your character’s name is the incredibly creative Дми́трий ♫, you can now have it accurately reflected within Hero Lab."

But...

When I try to change something in the .user files from the hero lab editor or another editor, everything looks great till I save the file and then I see this...

which may seem greek to you, but it definitely isn't! ;)

So, is it a bug, or the new update allows us to have only the character's name written with "strange" letters?
