How does one create a tracked resource that isn't also something else?

Say I want a tracked resource to appear on a character sheet, but I only want it to appear in the tracked resources area. Let's call it: Foo Points.

I was hoping to use Hero Points as a way to figure out how to go about it, but they seem to work in a way that isn't duplicatable by user. The "cleanest" way I've found get what I want is to create a custom Trait and enable its tracker. Then I have to add an adjustment to increase the number of traits the character can have so I can add Foo. I also create a custom Adjustment so I can change the number of "charges" Foo has.

There has to to be an easier way. Or, at the very least, there's hopefully a way to do this where I don't have to also see Foo listed in the Traits section.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Hmmm. I must be missing something (or a few things :/). I Originally thought this was the way to go, using the Hero Point mechanic as a starting point. The Hero Point mechanic bootstraps a Hero Point Ability, which in turn has a a whole bunch of stuff I don't care about, but Abilities do have built in trackers. So, I thought, I will create a custom Tracker, bootstrap that tracker in my mechanic, and I should see something in the tracked resource area. No love. If there's some online help on how to use trackers, I'll gladly learn to fish myself. Cursory searching yielded nada.

Not sure then. I have it in my own game. Its just a tracker bootstrapped to a mechnanic. If the mechanic is turned on it shows up.

Looks sheepishly and asks... A mechanic has to be turned on? Having never used them before, where does that switch live?

EDIT: Huh. It would appear I had to do a Quick Reload of the data files in order for the tracker to show up. I think I had this right from the get-go. Grrrr.

Thanks for your help though. You guys are, by far, the best customer support group I've ever encountered.

No problem. Yeah you have to click "Test Now" on anything you want to have show up and you have to reload anything that is bootstraped enmass (like a mechanic)

Just keep in mind "customer support" in this case is a friendly fellow user of Hero Lab and not a paid employee. Maybe you knew that but just wanted to make sure. :)
