HLO: "Starfinder Armory" content date?

For the record, it typically takes us 6+ weeks to get all the content of a big, hardcover book into place for any given game system like Pathfinder or Starfinder - it's a LOT of work. After wrapping up the initial PF2 Playtest material, we were behind on both Pathfinder 1E and Starfinder (as I outlined upthread), and we began work on getting caught up just over a month ago.

We released a whole bunch of Pathfinder 1E stuff last week, encompassing at least a half-dozen books. Work on the Armory book is currently in progress, but it's not finished yet. My understanding is that it will be another week or two to completion. We're also working to keep up with all of the substantive PF2 Playtest changes in parallel with the PF1 and SF stuff. To say it's a juggle would be an understatement!

As @ShadowChemosh correctly pointed out above, we have a single team that handles all the data file creation across all game systems. They have their hands full right now and are doing an excellent job of getting things into place in an efficient manner.

We're working as hard as we can to get caught up, but it's going to take a bit of time to get there. Thank you for your continued patience! :)

Thanks, Rob.

Speaking solely for myself, my only angst with the Armory content not being out was not knowing even a preliminary timeline. Given what you've laid out above, and barring any urgent, priority work being requested by Paizo, the normal, safe presumption should be 4 - 6 weeks after print content release, if I am correct in my understanding.

Thanks Rob, as long as we have a general timeline and notice if timelines are shifting I think most of us are going to be happy.

How'd that "hopefully September" work out?
I know, "But another PF2 update happened and that's more important than Starfinder".
Just admit it, PF2 is more important to the Lonewolf team and you'll get to Starfinder and PF1when you have some spare time.

I'm a little bummed Armory development is taking so long, but since we've got time and since this feature will be implemented with weapon manufacturers, would it be too much to ask to add the Underwater modification from Alien Archive as a feature?

evdjj3j, do you have the case number for the bug you submitted? When I search our bug tracker for "Underwater", I don't see any starfinder cases.

I've added this issue to our to-do list now, but if you posted it in a forum thread at some point, then that was missed, and never added to the to-do list.

The delay is very frustrating. My group has had to abandon HLO because of it. It was either that or abandon the book which we were not going to do.

Something seriously missing is the ability to create custom items in HLO.If we had that at least, we could have kept going with it.

Really disappointed. If HLO aren't able to properly support it's primary platforms, I really don't think I can justify further expenditure on it in future. It's not a cheap product at all, and this lack of support means I am not getting any value from what I and my group have already spent on it. Kindof feeling ripped off at the moment.

For the future, this does not bode well. They are already behind and can we really expect them to ever catch up? Lonewolf seem to be far too small a company to actually meet their commitments.

At this point its going to be what? January/February before Alien Archive 2 is added? Longer depending on how much PF2 stuff is dropped between now and then? I honestly was going to buy all of my players HLO for Christmas, but what's the point? I had a friend who was waiting for Tieflings to get added before she started to play, which they added in AA2 but we won't be able to use HLO to create her character that's for dang sure.

Paizo is finishing up part 4 of the playtest with 3 more parts to go. The rule updates are on version 1.3, which looks like they make rule changes at the end of each part of the playtest. Each part is two weeks long with the last part ending on 11/18. It's not looking like we will see AA2 before February if we're lucky, possibly March. My characters haven't bought any items since the end of July because I'm waiting on Armory. If they would add the ability to add our own items that would help. I wonder if we all went to the PF2 forum and requested that feature if they would add it?

I still somewhat question the HLC usage. I know its debated over and over here, but maybe its worth looking into for users with the "Authoring Kit" license. Then we could simply create our own content. We just need the framework created.

Anyone know if the Pathfinder framework can be grabbed and used to set the frame for Starfinder on Classic?

No... anything besides 4e and Savage World has the core skeleton files fully locked/encrypted. :(

You would need to start from scratch in making Starfinder for HLC. While this can be done I would expect about 2 months straight (40 hr work weeks) to build a functional frame work. As you would have only savage world (which is not even close) as as starting point.

Armory should be out Friday and you will absolutely have AA2 before next year. We are hoping to bring on a new staff member later this month to further aid in getting us all caught up.

PF2 will have releases this week (tomorrow) and we have release dates scheduled for the next two weeks as well. Unfortunately, we get the documents for the updates at the same time everyone else does so it's just not possible to have it out on release day.

We have the ability to add custom items to your characters. It doesn't affect the stats of the character, but it does at least put it in inventory.

I agree that custom is there, but its limited to inventory items, no updated stats etc, and cants be used to manage custom things like new races, abilities etc...

I think we are referring to that functionality when we are saying custom content support.

That said, Thanks for the update BJ!

I was referring to the ability to add custom items to my inventory, like the editor included with HLC. Specifically I wanted the ability to add items that had been release by Paizo which LW had not created data files for. For example the Adaptive Defense Module on pg 7 in Alien Archive 2. If this is already possible how is it done?

Unfortunately, we don't currently have the ability to create custom content. It is something we plan to have in the future, but it isn't likely to be this year.

What kind of customization are you talking about here? Give me an example because I'm confused.
